Judges will select the winners based on artistic merit, originality and appropriateness to the theme of books, teens and libraries.

Julia Hedley is Head of the Youth Services Department at North Vancouver District Library. She, along with a committee of youth librarians developed the idea for the contest in 2002. She explains: "This contest is one of the ways we celebrate youth and life-long reading. A large percentage of youth use libraries to find the information and resources they need for school and recreation."

In 2002 Whistler teen David Wiebe was the first place winner for the region encompassing North & West Vancouver, Bowen Island, Whistler, Squamish, Pemberton and the Sunshine Coast. He won $100 and 12,000 copies of his bookmark "Get a grip on reading" featuring a skateboarder were distributed.

All participants must return their finished bookmark to the Whistler Public Library by March 31, 2004. Don't miss your chance to show the world your artistic talents !
