The Whistler-Blackcomb Women’s Demo team will travel to Vail, Colorado in April to defend their world championships from April 5 to 12.

The team won the women’s division and was fifth overall in 2002 while competing at home, during the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival. Now they are going on the road to ski in the World Alpine Ski School Championship.

Events include a synchronized skiing demonstration, a four-skier dual giant slalom relay, and the air pairs jump-off. The team will face representatives from some of the top ski school programs in the world.

The team includes Sherri Fleck, Natalie Morel, Genevieve Bourgeois, Suzanne Hutchinson, Sunny Verreault, Caroline L’Heureux, Holly Hilton, Taylor Wood, Tracy Dunlop, coach Leslei Glaysher and assistant coach Pierre Ringuette.

To raise money for the trip to Vail, the group is holding a 50/50 draw at pay day parties, and other fundraisers are in the works.
