WRA president appointed to CTC committee Whistler Resort Association President Suzanne Denbak, who has held the post for less than one year, is now a member of the Canadian Tourism Commission’s Meeting and Incentives Travel committee. Denbak, who won the post as president of the WRA last summer after an exhaustive search by the WRA’s board of directors, has been recognized by the CTC for her work with the resort association, which includes overseeing the organization’s strategic planning, planning and targeted marketing, management of the Whistler Conference Centre, central reservations and the Whistler Golf Club. The Meetings and Incentive Travel program is the CTC’s primary tool to attract U.S. conference business to Canada. The year-round program showcases Canadian destinations to large numbers of U.S. visitors. As a result of the program, the CTC claims more than U.S.$170 million has been invested into the Canadian economy since 1997. In addition, the CTC and the Canadian government will work together this year with the private sector and regional tourism associations with an annual budget of U.S.$5.12 million for the Incentives Travel program. o o o The Whistler Resort Association’s annual general meeting takes place Saturday, May 8 stating at 9 a.m. in the conference centre. The meeting will include a review of the WRA’s financial statements, some housekeeping bylaws will be considered, and three directors will be elected. Registration takes place between 8 and 9 a.m.
