Have you heard about the upcoming Denim ’n’ Diamonds gala evening on April 24 th ? This fundraising event for the library promises to offer a unique and rare opportunity to please everyone – a chance for the ladies of Whistler to show off their fine gowns (or diamond studded denim) and diamond jewelry (real or faux), while allowing their partners the opportunity to combine their best denim with bow ties.

This uniquely Whistler event, held at The Westin Resort and Spa, will be an amazing and fun evening. The organizing committee has been working for the past 10 months to gather a huge variety of items for auction, to include:

• A 1.13 cts round brilliant cut Canadian Polar Ice loose diamond with a retail value of $12,000;

• A ladies denim jean jacket, packaged with a 2 hour guided horseback ride through the forests, sandy beaches and meadows beneath 8,000 foot Mount Currie in the Pemberton Valley;

• A week of Westins ….seven nights accommodation at The Westin hotels in Vancouver and Whistler, as well as a spa package at Avello Spa & Health Club;

• A framed and signed original hand-pulled lithograph "River Otters" by Robert Bateman;

• A Sonora Lodge fishing trip;

• A variety of great Whistler adventures, from yoga packages, to a morning with the ski patrol;

• An opportunity to have golf shirts and hats embroidered with your custom logo or message;

• A rare opportunity for you and 23 friends to tour Vancouver harbour and Howe Sound aboard the private motor vessel Owaissa, while savouring a taste of B.C.’s finest foods and wines prepared by renowned Whistler’s own Chef Bernard.

In fact, there is something for everyone.

In addition the popular Heads ’n’ Tails draw, renamed Denim or Diamonds for this event, offers the opportunity to win a five-night stay at the Fairmont Orchid on the island of Hawaii, compliments of long-time Whistler resident, Dave Roberts.

After an exquisite dinner, designed by The Westin Resort and Spa award winning chef, Hans Stierli, you can dance until the wee hours to the ever popular rock and roll band, Cease and Desist.

Tickets are $125 each, and are going fast. All net proceeds from this gala evening will be used for furnishings and books to fill our new library, set to open in 2006. You can call the library at 604-932-5564 for tickets. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, cheques or cash are gladly accepted.
