Dixon to represent Canada at World Junior Championships

Robbie Dixon, a member of the B.C. Ski Team and former WMSC skier, has been selected by Alpine Canada Alpin to represent Canada at the 2005 World Junior Alpine Championships at Bardonecchia, Italy.

The team will be led by Brigitte Acton, a silver medallist at the 2003 world juniors, 2004 Pontiac GMC Cup champion Sophie Splawinski, and Calgary’s Shona Rubens, who currently leads the Pontiac GMC Cup western division.

Other female athletes include Fernie’s Danielle Poleschuk; Marie-Pier Prefontaine of Saint Sauveur, Quebec; Anna Goodman of Pointe Claire, Quebec; and Kristen Tarchuk of Banff.

Dixon, who is from North Vancouver, will be joined by Patrick Findlay of Collingwood, Ontario; Stephan Guay of Mont-Tremblant, Quebec; Louis-Pierre Helie of Berthierville, Quebec; Ryan Perlus of Toronto; and Gareth Sine of Calgary.

The disciplines in which each athlete will be competing have yet to be announced.

The World Junior Alpine Championships take place from Feb. 21-27.
