Who: DJ Science

I got hooked on DJing when
I would listen to mix tapes my older cousin passed down to me from the local club DJs. Id be in my bedroom with two old, second hand turntables and a cheap Radio Shack mixer.
I built a following when
I was in high school. Weekend house parties were in full effect and it was the best opportunity I had to both show off my DJ skills and gain recognition as DJ Science. Needless to say, once word got out that I was playing real hip hop at these house parties, I received more and more phone calls from others asking me to play their parties.
It all progressed to the next level when
I assisted in the creation of Vancouvers first hip hop Shop, F.W.U.H. (F*%k What U Heard) alongside friend and owner Blaze One. DJing at the hip hop shop gave me exposure I never had before. Everyone who was anyone passed through those doors, including promoters, DJs, and club owners. Before I knew it, I was getting offers to play, left, right and centre. Selling my mix tapes at the shop and making a few bucks playing parties and radio shows was addictive. I couldnt believe I was making money and a name for myself at what I loved doing.
Some names you may know that Ive DJed for would be
Swollen Members, Del the Funky Homosapien, Ozomatli, Mr. Brady, Moka Only, Saafir, Funkdoobiest, Xzibit, Aceyalone & Abstract Rude.
You can catch me at
Sonar on Fridays, Thursdays at Shine, and Saturdays at Club 7 Alexander.
