Two Pemberton residents are facing possible drug trafficking charges following an investigation by local police.
Whistler RCMP said this month’s investigation eventually led officers to the 39-year-old male and the 35-year-old female. Following the arrest, police obtained and executed a search warrant at a residence in the 7300 block of Arbutus Street where they found “a substantial amount of drugs,” according to a release.
Staff Sgt. Paul Hayes would not say what the drugs found were, or how much, with the investigation still ongoing.Police said the suspects have each been released on a promise to appear in Pemberton court on Feb. 6, 2018.
Tools worth $7K reportedly stolen from truck
Police are investigating a report last week of the theft of several thousand dollars worth of tools from a truck that was parked in Creekside.
On Oct. 19, Whistler RCMP was notified that a truck had been broken into overnight in the 2400 block of Dave Murray Place. A number of tools, including two drills, and a pair of welders, were reportedly taken. After the alleged theft, a Whistler resident also attended the detachment to return the missing Dynasty 200 welder he had reportedly found on the Valley Trail.
The total estimated value of the tools is $7,000, police said.

Impaired driver skips median before being arrested
A Sechelt man was arrested for drunk driving last week after he skipped a median in the village, police said.
At approximately 3:20 a.m. on Oct. 21, officers noticed a silver truck driving in circles in the Marketplace parking lot. As the officer approached the truck, a driver in another vehicle attempted to leave the scene, ignoring a yield sign and a stop sign before turning left out of the lot without signalling, police said. When the officer turned on his red and blues, the driver reportedly drove over the Lorimer Road median.
Mounties said the 27-year-old driver showed signs of impairment, and was subsequently arrested. He also blew over the legal limit when officers administered a breathalyser exam back at the detachment.
The man has a court date in North Vancouver for Nov. 29.
Squamish man breaches court-ordered curfew, police say
A Squamish man is facing charges after he reportedly breached his court-ordered curfew last week, police said.
At approximately 4:15 a.m. on Oct. 18, officers patrolling Highway 99 near Alpine Way noticed a white pickup truck weaving in its lane. When police stopped the truck, they discovered that, while sober, the 43-year-old driver was on conditions not to be out of his residence between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. stemming from a previous charge.
He was subsequently arrested on one count of breach of recognizance.
