Dusty’s to go whole hog next weekend

After hosting the Canadian National Barbecue Championships in August Dusty’s is further cementing its reputation as Whistler’s barbecue mecca by hosting Hogfest ’04 next weekend.

The celebration of all things "hog" consists of an afternoon motorcycle exhibition featuring the baddest of the bad from Squamish bike shop Sea to Sky Choppers, and a whole hog barbecue feed in the evening.

Celebrity smokemaster Adam Protter of Mount Currie – "Best New Cook" at August’s Canadian national championships – will be on hand as a special guest expert at the barbecue pit. The meat will be served for $5 a plate on a first-come first-served basis. Local barbecue teams will also be offering rib samplings throughout the afternoon.

The party will continue into the night with tunes by Blue River – a.k.a. Guitar Doug’s rockin’ bluegrass band, and the aptly named Cousin Harley & The Piglets, Vancouver’s good time country/rockabilly rollers.

The bike show is open to all proud moto-owners. Bikes must be registered in advance by calling 604-905-2145. Those with registered show bikes eat free at the barbecue pit.

Hogfest ’04 starts smokin’ at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9.
