Ear Candy

Pete Coulliard – Guitar crusher/vocal disaster with local band Leth Dodis and Vancouver’s PAUDAR.

The last five songs I ever want to hear when my sins finally catch up with me:

1. Prophet Song/Love of my Life – Queen

"A wonderful piece of music from the kind of album that just isn't made anymore. The lyrics are a little ‘Harry Potter,’ but what a way to get lost in the moment... and then the transition into the cheesiest love song ever."

2. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road – Elton John

" Should have stayed on the farm ... damn right, Elton. What an eloquent way to express everything we regret about growing up – so incredible that he does it without sounding angry."

3. Stinkfist – Tool

"This song epitomizes everything I love about heavy music. It's so musically elevated but there's nothing pretentious or indulgent about the way it's written. It conveys so much anguish so well."

4. Another Lonely Day – Ben Harper

"Testify, brutha. You kill me. Too sad to be the last song I ever hear but I'll feel it every moment that I'm alive. This song is so human... so pure. Thank you."

5. 39 – Queen

"Brian May, actually. A celebration of acoustic guitar and a masterpiece of atmosphere. It feels so good, and then I close my eyes..."

Last words...

"What came first the music or the misery? Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?"

— John Cusack as record store owner Rob Gordon
