Stand-up bass daddy, W-B number cruncher, Rutherford Creek player and Mighty Backhoe.

My top five albums right now:

1. Carmina Burana — Orff

"One of Orff’s most popular works – a collection of 24 poems set to music. It’s simple, but great. Most people will recognize the first/last movement from the movies. While one of my favourite classical pieces, it’s also the worst thing I’ve ever heard the VSO perform. But don’t get me started on that..."

2. A Love Supreme — John Coltrane

"Recorded in 1964. A great offering from a great band. I wish I could’ve seen them live. Not really for first time jazz listeners though."

3. Legend — Bob Marley

"I’m playing a bit of reggae these days. Who better to listen to and learn from?"

4. Footprints Live — Wayne Shorter

"One of the best shows I’ve ever seen – super intense without being loud or distorted."

5. Kind of Blue — Miles Davis

"This is the jazz album that every fan should have in their library. It changed jazz for future generations."

Last Words:

"The people that I've played with have always influenced the music I listen to and the way I play. Whether it was my early days playing in the Colin Lovell Sextet exposing me to the likes of Thelonious Monk and Art Blakey, or Downtown Jay Brown and the White Guy playing Phish, or KostaMan and the Mighty Backhoes getting me into Manu Chao, my fellow musicians have kept me learning."
