Election numbers A total of 2,300 voters turned out for the advance polls and Nov. 20 polls in both West Vancouver and Whistler. Total registered voters following the election was 5,625, which works out to a 41 per cent voter turnout. However, the actual voter turnout this year was probably much less than 41 per cent, as the total registered voters is based on those who were on the voters’ list prior to the election and those who registered on election day. People who have bought Whistler property or moved to Whistler in the last three years may not have been on the voters’ list and may not have registered on election day. In 1996 voter turnout was 63.4 per cent. The total number of voters in 1996 was more than 2,500. A total of 240 people voted in West Vancouver at the advance poll on Nov. 10 and the regular poll on Nov. 20. Stephanie Sloan was the largest beneficiary of people who voted in West Vancouver, capturing 169 votes. Nick Davies garnered 120 votes from West Vancouver and Kristi Wells received 118 votes from the West Vancouver polling booths.
