Re: “Crews battle large blaze at Alpine condo complex

Every rental unit should have working fire extinguishers as a requirement by the muni.
We need a municipal landlord /tenant registry to mitigate these disasters.

Re: “Business owners search for answers to labour struggles

This is so simple.
Property owners who offer their second unit to a pool of units, which are managed locally and professionally ,
are exempt from property taxes.
All maintenance is also tax free.
This is exactly what a co-op does.
Lower costs to members/workers by accessing benefits that are already in action in BC.
That makes it easier to keep rental units affordable and it keeps landlords and tenants accountable to the neutral third party.
The statement at the meeting by WHA talked about feasibility studies and future housing plans.
The WHA report needed to address the current situation and answer the questions:
why is a predicted housing crisis happening in the wealthiest community in Canada when we supposedly have a an agency to manage the seasonal worker housing program in place?
That warning 10 years ago WAS the feasibility study.
That means we are 10 years behind our projected housing needs.
Why would we need to do a feasibility study ?
Who paid for it?
how much money was budgeted for this redundant opinion?
Who did the study?

Re: “Letters to the Editor for the week of August 20th

The Pique is simply a business.
The content of the Pique is irrelevant to the owners. All that matters is that the advertisers pay for a paper to be printed, you pick it up and read it.
Stop picking it up! Stop reading it!
Stop treating a media business product (Pique ) like it is a source of government information.
It is a rag.

Re: “'Dismal' staffing struggles worsen in Whistler

Thanks for saying what needs to be said!
It is time to expose the staff housing slums and ask why anyone would degrade themselves to accept and PAY for decrepit overpriced over crowded apartments?

Re: “Overhaul of foreign worker program may delay new restaurant

I am a calling discrimination against any business owner who believes that a Canadian educated Chef is somehow less desirable as a staff member, than a Mexican educated Chef!
He prefers staff who are disadvantaged by a language barrier. Easy to abuse.
A professional Chef can cook any style or ethnicity of food.
Canadians work first!
Living wages please!
