Come on, for sure there is a margin to increase the wages. For exemple, here in Europe the waiting staff gets max. 5% tips a it's ok, because they get a decent salary they deserve. In Canada, without tips, so only with their wage, no server would survive. That means the restaurant owners in Canada take advantage of the existence of tiping culture and they underpay deeply their staff. Not even talking about the fact that in Europe you get your monthly salary no matter what, but in Canada, when it's not busy they will just send you home (and still pay your rent, mortgage, bills etc. and you have no right to EI while not working) So employers don't complain, increase the wages and I can garantee you that you won't be short of staff...
