Vagina Monologues coming to MY Place

The Whistler Players present selected scenes from Eve Ensler’s award-winning play The Vagina Monologues next month.

The Vagina Monologues is a series of scripted performances covering women’s issues and experiences. It is always enacted as a fund-raiser for a women’s centred non-profit group. This year’s performance is in support of Pearl’s Place, based in Squamish.

The performance takes place at Maurice Young Millennium Place on March 1. For more information log on to www.vaginamonologues.com or contact Gillie Easdon at the Millenium Place Box Office at 604-935-8410.

Olympic rush

According to the canoe.ca Web site, Olympic fans want their sport and their music.

So much so, 500 fans swarmed a box office for concert tickets, resulting in two women suffering minor injuries. The fury occurred as enthusiastic fans swarmed the Hallmark Gold Crown Store at Provo Town Center in Utah Saturday morning, where a crowd had gathered almost 10 hours earlier for free giveaways.

Sting, Dave Matthews Band, and Victoria’s Nelly Furtado are scheduled to perform at Olympic Medals Plaza through the Games. Other acts at this year’s Games include Canadian wonderboys The Bare Naked Ladies, Smash Mouth, Run,Baby,Run’s Sheryl Crow, and Foo Fighters.
