Whistler’s bear advocacy group — The Get Bear Smart Society — just got a $5,000 boost.
This week, The Fairmont Chateau Whistler announced it is giving the bear group a grant for educational materials, like Bear Smart Visitor and Resident’s guides.
“The Get Bear Smart Society was a natural choice for The Fairmont Chateau Whistler’ s ‘Eco-Innovation’ Signature project, intended to showcase our unique environmental strengths and connection to the community, and reinforce the Fairmont’s commitment to ‘think globally and act locally,” said Lynn Gervais, public relations manager for the hotel.
Executive director for the Get Bear Smart Society, Sylvia Dolson, extended her heartfelt thanks for the money.
“We are absolutely thrilled to form a partnership with The Chateau Fairmont Whistler and look forward to working with the Fairmont’s Green Team on other bear smart initiatives as well,” said Dolson.
The $5,000 grant will come out of the hotel’s green partnership program.
