The Fairmont Chateau Whistler Foundation is the latest Whistler business to raise money for the victims of forest fires that raged throughout the Interior of the province this summer.

On Sept. 24, the foundation announced $3,000 to go towards B.C. Red Cross Relief and Recovery Program.

"Directly or indirectly, all of us at the hotel have been affected by the devastating forest fires that continue to rage through areas of our province," said general manager Kevin Toth. "Being able to support the Red Cross in their efforts to ensure that both families and individuals are able to meet their basic needs is the least that we could do."

The Fairmont Chateau Whistler Fund is endowed by the hotels’ employees through a wide range of fundraising activities, including a golf tournament, bake sales, garage sales, and a volunteer bake table at the Whistler Farmer’s Market. Last year’s recipients, WAG, Whistler Big Brothers and Sisters, AWARE, Pearl’s Place and Whistler Community Services each received $6,000.

Last week, Whistler-Blackcomb announced its support for a staff-initiated fundraiser that will run until Oct. 17, and includes a booth at the annual Turkey Sale. You can also participate at Whistler-Blackcomb Guest Relations or at the administration office in the Upper Village.
