Local hardcore punk band the Fall of Summer, one of the loudest bands in Whistler, is taking their tunes out of the tool shed, their current rehearsal space, and are hard at work completing a new rehearsal space along with a their new album, scheduled for release next month.
"We’ve been together a year and a half, so we are still pretty new," said bassist Mike Calder.
"We have a full-length CD finally finished. We are really excited about it."
The Fall of Summer will join two other local bands, Slush and Black Collar Crowd, for Devil’s Punk Night Sunday, Oct. 30 at the Boot Pub.
Previously, the band produced a three-song EP. Still new to the game, the band hadn’t melded their sound: each song sounded as if a different band played it.
However, with a year of gigging around Whistler at hot spots like Bill’s, the Boot Pub, GLC and Tommy’s, the Fall of Summer found a united voice.
"Mark (Bannock)really knows every style," Calder said of the drummer’s music background. "(Guitarist) Jay (Greenway) is more Depeche Mode. He brings a darker style to our sound. I listen to a lot of skateboard punk, Black Flag, Circle Jerks. I think our sound has melted together to make a Fall sound."
Greenway’s soft vocals pair with Calder’s aggressive-screaming vocals on the new, yet-untitled album, which was recorded in Brian Adam’s Vancouver studio, The Warehouse.
The group is expanding its fan base in Vancouver with sets at the Piccadilly Pub.
