Family Links festival sells out

Whistler’s golf courses had one of their busiest weekends ever last weekend with the inaugural Family Links Golf Festival completely selling out.

The festival offered two rounds of golf at any of the four participating courses for $99, or $50 for kids. Participating courses were Whistler Golf Club, Nicklaus North, Chateau Whistler and Big Sky.

"The Family Links Golf Festival was a great success and all the participants have said they’re looking forward to next year," said Dean Larson, Chair of Golf Whistler and Director of Sales for Big Sky Golf and Country Club. "It was a fantastic way to introduce the opportunities available for young players this season. With free and reduced golf rates for kids, junior tees and youth golf clinics, the courses are very excited to welcome a new generation to this incredible game of golf."

Some 512 people took part this year, playing two rounds of golf and enjoying other attractions. One of those attractions was a long drive exhibition by champion Brian Pavlet. There was also a wrap-up reception on Sunday where closest to the pin prizes were awarded to the top male, female, and juniors.

For the remainder of the season, golfers from 10-18 play free at all participating resorts if accompanied by a paying adult.
