A new year, a new sound.

Angela Kelman, one-third of the country trio Farmer’s Daughter and an accomplished solo artist, expands her previous musical repertoire performing solo at the Chateau Whistler’s Mallard Lounge for New Year’s Eve.

Kelman combines ’70s rhythm and blues with pure energy to bring you tidings of comfort and joy this season.

Kelman also performs sultry bossa nova stylings Monday night. That music will be featured on an upcoming album with Whistler-based Peerless Music, scheduled for release in 2002.

Kelman also performed at this year’s Vancouver Jazz Festival.

Farmer’s Daughter has won 29 industry awards, including a Juno and a West Coast Music Award. Their 1993 debut album was titled Girls Will Be Girls , while Makin’ Hay , produced in 1996, went gold in Canada. Marc Ramaer, of k.d.lang’s Ingenue , produced 1998’s This is the Life . Hit singles from Farmer’s Daughter include Now that I’m On My Own and Cornfields and Cadillacs.

Kelman regularly appears with Farmer’s Daughter on Canada AM, Vicki Gabreau and the Dini Petty Show.
