Feast for the senses

Afternoon soiree highlights wine, food

No paper plates, no plastic cutlery. The Feast of Fields afternoon soiree of wine sipping and culinary adventures for sampling is about sustainable elegance, showcased in one of the most picturesque settings in the world: North Arm Farm in Pemberton.

"I hope people will walk away with a deeper knowledge and appreciation and a stronger commitment to our local sustainable food systems," said event organizer Astrid Cameron Kent of Saturday’s event, which takes place between 1 and 5 p.m. "Educating and motivating people to become a ‘localvore’ is all part of the message here."

Feast of Fields, hosted by FarmFolk/CityFolk, will see the local farm transformed into an outdoor gourmet buffet, showcasing award-winning chefs, farmers, food artisans, vintners and brewers.

Advanced $75 tickets are available at the Howe Sound Inn in Squamish, IGA in Whistler and The Pemberton Valley Grocery Store.

The night gives way to two $125 farmer’s dinners. Call 604-894-5379 for the North Arm Farm dinner and 604-894-6618 for the Helmers Organics dinner.

The Pemberton Youth Centre also hosts a Slow-Food inspired film, Go Further, at the Slow Food Movie Night on Saturday night at the Pemberton Community Centre. Tickets are $5 or $15 for a family.
