Ferraro new director of finance for Whistler-Blackcomb

Replaces out-going Ken Derpak

Flora Ferraro is the new director of finance for Whistler-Blackcomb.

Ferraro’s appointment was announced Nov. 21 by Doug Forseth, Senior Vice President, Operations.

“We are very fortunate to have exceptional employees within our organization that are ready to step up when the opportunity is available and I look forward to adding Flora’s passionate eye to the Senior Leadership Team table,” Forseth said in a release.

Ferraro takes over from Ken Derpak, who moved to Banff to take the position of Vice President of Operations for Sunshine Village Resort.

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge of this new position,” Ferraro said. “This is a great opportunity for me to learn more about the business and to become more involved in the direction the organization is going.”

Ferraro began her career at Whistler-Blackcomb in 1996 as an assistant controller. After playing a critical role establishing the financial infrastructure through the merger of the two mountains, she was promoted to Controller in 2000. During her time as Controller, Ferraro was instrumental in the implementation of three accounting systems and six point of sale systems that have resulted in more effective and streamlined work processes.

She has a Bachelor Degree in Commerce from the University of British Columbia and obtained her Certified General Accountant certification from CGA Association of British Columbia.
