WRA hires event manager Still no word on Summit ‘Concert’ Former Torontonian Fiona MacGregor is the new Manager of Festivals and Events for the Whistler Resort Association. MacGregor joined the WRA team Tuesday, July 13, a month after Festival and Events Director Maureen Douglas left the association to pursue other interests in Whistler. MacGregor has been involved with Canada Summer Games event ceremonies, ceremonies at The Commonwealth Games, the opening of Confederation Bridge in Prince Edward Island and with opera productions in Europe, Mexico and Canada. MacGregor is responsible for overseeing the Festivals and Events department’s year-round programs. Douglas’s departure from the WRA came at a time when the summer Summit Concert Series artists and venues had not yet been finalized. Three weekend concerts were tentatively scheduled, for July 24, Aug. 7 and Aug. 14. Following Douglas’s departure the job of hiring bands for the concerts went to Vancouver independent booking agent Paul Mercs. The WRA has since clarified that there will be only one concert — not three as in years past. As of Wednesday, July 14, bands, a venue and a date for this year’s Summit Concert had not been announced.
