A fourth-row view of the Dallas Cowboys and their cheerleaders is one of the items up for auction at the seventh annual Festival of Lights, Saturday, Nov. 29. Presented by the Association of Whistler Realtors, the Festival of Lights is a gala dinner and auction event held during the Hongkong Bank Whistler Ski Classic. This year’s event, which begins at 6 p.m., is in the new Macdonald Ballroom of the Chateau Whistler Resort. Auction items include: two return airline tickets from Vancouver to Sydney, Australia; tickets for two to a Dallas Cowboys Monday Night Football game, including airline tickets, accommodation and tickets on the 45 yard line, fourth row; four floor tickets to a Vancouver Grizzlies-Los Angeles Lakers game, including a signed Grizzly jersey; dinner for eight with Doug and Mary Forseth; a fly-in heli-fishing trip with Blackcomb Helicopters; and Vancouver Canucks jerseys signed by Mark Messier, Trevor Linden and Pavel Bure. This year’s beneficiaries will be Pemberton and District Search and Rescue, Whistler and Pemberton Public Libraries, the Whistler Children’s Centre, the Whistler Children’s Chorus, Whistler Community Services Society, the Myrtle Philip Fine Arts Committee, the Mount Currie Band, and the Whistler Off Road Cycling Association. In the past six years the Festival of Lights has raised more than $300,000 for organizations in the Sea to Sky Corridor. Tickets for this year’s Festival of Lights are $125 and available from any Whistler realtor.
