When it comes to entertainment and fun, the final weekend of the World Ski and Snowboard Festival (WSSF) is packed with possibilities.

"People are inspired by their skiing, their snowboarding, their time in the mountains," says Lauren Everest of Whistler Blackcomb.

"The arts component behind the festival is to celebrate those people who are inspired by their experiences in the mountains and they translate that into another medium."

Let's start with music. No fewer than eight musical acts take to the Free Outdoor Concert Series stage in Skier's Plaza: DJs Billy the Kidd and Turtle (Thursday, April 16 at 2:30 p.m.), followed by Live in the House (4 p.m.); Swedish Afterski Mafia (Friday, April 17 at 2:30 p.m.), followed by Fort Knox Five  (4 p.m.); Jazz Cartier (Saturday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m.), followed by YelaWolf (9 p.m.); and Animal Nation/Lozen (Sunday, April 19 at 2:30 p.m.), followed by MSTRKRFT (4 p.m.).

The Silent Disco is back on Friday at the Whistler Conference Centre at 10 p.m. Partiers are supplied with a set of headphones and get to choose music from one of three DJs playing at the same time: Foxy Moron, Canosis and Kid Kicko.

It's billed as three parties for the price of one. Not liking a song? Simply check out what another DJ is spinning. Tickets are $20 and the event is for 19 and over.

WSSF ends with a dance-blowout party on Saturday at 10 p.m. This year The End at the Whistler Conference Centre has Autoerotique, Etc! Etc! and Torro Torro. Tickets are $35.

There are also parties and performances at nightclubs and pubs around town. Check out Pique's music listings page.

The Olympus Pro Photographer Showdown on Thursday pits five of the best in the world showing their work to judges and a thousand or so people at the Whistler Conference Centre at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30. And if you missed the popular 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown the night before (Wednesday, April 15), Olympus 2nd Cuts will show the finalists' films on Thursday at the Whistler Conference Centre. Tickets are $10.

For fans of action-sport filmmaking, the popular Intersection takes place on Friday at the Whistler Conference Centre. Tickets are $25.

"Intersection has opened the doors to interesting new crews from around the world... the format change of letting people use footage shot anywhere in the world from Dec. 1 on has brought a new crop of teams into the competition. I think it's going to be cool," says Everest.

This year, seven film groups and their athletes take part.

Finally, the ruff stuff once again hits the resort in the form of the Whistler DogFest on Saturday. There are competitions, all culminating in a parade. All events take place at Whistler Town Plaza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

And the State of the ART visual arts show continues in the foyer of Whistler Conference Centre until the end of WSSF.

Please note, some of the events listed above may be sold out. Please check online so as not to be disappointed.
