fire stats

Losses from the 12 serious fires last year totalled $734,000, according to the Whistler Fire Department's year end report for 1994. That total is significantly less than the record year of 1991, when fire losses totalled more than $3.5 million. The largest single loss was the Nov. 10, 1994 fire at 9225 Autumn Drive. Losses there totalled $383,000. The Boxing Day fire which destroyed the caretaker's cabin at the Whistler Hostel was the second costliest blaze, causing $97,300 in damages. There were no serious injuries or deaths in any of the fires last year.
