In order to get an invite racers have to be ranked in the top 25 in a discipline on the World Cup circuit.

Turgeon, 25, of Quebec City, is also the first Canadian woman to compete in the downhill finals. She was ranked 19 th in the downhill this season and 20 th in the super G.

Forsyth, 23, who hails from Nanaimo, is the Canadian Alpine Ski Team’s top-ranked skier. She is seeded sixth in the giant slalom this weekend, and is looking to improve on her seventh place finish at the Olympics.

Genevieve Simard, 21, of Val Morin, Quebec, is still a rookie but managed to qualify for both the super-G and giant slalom, where she is ranked 17 th and 23 rd respectively. She is still suffering from a back injury she sustained after a fall in the Olympic slalom, but should be ready to race.

Thomas Grandi, 29, of Canmore, Alberta, is ranked 20 th in the giant slalom. He was the last male Canadian technical racer to make the World Cup finals, in 1999, skiing in the giant slalom and slalom.

Jean-Phillippe Roy, 22, of Ste-Flavie, Quebec is ranked 21 st in the slalom in his second year with the national team. He was eighth in the Olympic combined ski event.

The World Cup finals started on Wednesday (March 6) and will wrap up on Sunday.
