The Canadian Pacific Chateau Whistler Resort has been awarded the prestigious Canada Select five star rating. The award was presented at an awards ceremony in Victoria July 5. The nation-wide star rating program honours the best properties in the country that offer outstanding facilities and guest services. Of the 310 bed and breakfasts, hotels and inns in B.C. that participate in the Canada Select program, only nine have been recognized as five star properties. Also honoured at the ceremony were: the Sutton Place Hotel, Vancouver; North Haven B&B, Duncan; Aerie Resort, Malahat; Hollyford Guest Cottage, Qualicum Beach; and Abigail’s Hotel, Beaconsfield Inn, Haterleigh Heritage Inn, and Prior House B&B Inn, all located in Victoria. "This announcement comes as welcome news to our industry," said Rod Harris, Tourism British Columbia president and CEO. "These exceptional five star properties are an excellent example of the quality accommodation and tourism experiences we offer to our visitors." The Canada Select program is owned provincially and led by the accommodation industry. In B.C., the program is administered by the B.C. and Yukon Hotel Association and the B.C. Motel, Campground and Resort Association. Tourism BC conducts Canada Select inspections of all participating properties and ratings are featured in the BC Accommodations Guide.
