Food Bank holding drive to prepare for Christmas

More volunteers needed

The manager of Whistler’s Food Bank, Sandra McCarthy, and a group of volunteers will be asking for donations next week in preparation for the Christmas rush.

On Friday, Nov. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. there will be food bank stalls set up outside the three grocery stores in Whistler.

"I’m just starting to get into the thick of it now, but it’s still not as bad as it has been in other years," said McCarthy. "I’m getting low (on food), but… the way I’ve planned it is that now we’ll start to get re-supplied by donations needed for Christmas.

"We start at 5 p.m. and we’re out front of the three different grocery stores in town and we’ll be handing out flyers for the desired items that we need. And they’ll be able to see it posted in the stores because there will be stickers on the items we really would like to have."

McCarthy also needs volunteers to help pack the food once it’s collected. Volunteers are asked to call McCarthy at 604-905-8023.
