It was erroneously reported in the Nov. 1 issue of Pique that there is an advance poll for Whistler’s municipal election in West Vancouver on Nov. 9.

In fact, the only place people can vote in the Whistler election on Nov. 9 is at municipal hall in Whistler.

Municipal elections are Saturday, Nov. 16. Polls for the election of Whistler council members and school trustees will be held in Whistler – at Myrtle Philip Community School – and West Vancouver – at Rockridge Middle School, 5350 Headland Drive. The polls are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

To qualify to vote as a resident elector you must be at least 18 years of age, a Canadian citizen, a resident of British Columbia for at least six months immediately prior to registering, and a resident of Whistler for at least 30 days immediately before registering. You must also not be disqualified from voting under the Local Government Act or otherwise disqualified by law.

You may register on the day that you vote; you will be required to produce two pieces of identification at the time of registration that provide evidence of your identity (a driver's license and birth certificate). At least one piece of identity must contain your signature.
