A woman who was charged with two counts of driving under the influence will appear in Supreme Court for a trial scheduled from March 25 to 28.

Jennifer McConnell, formerly of Pemberton, crashed her car on Oct. 2, 2005 while allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol on Highway 99 near Pemberton.

According to Corporal Paul Vadik of the Pemberton RCMP, McConnell’s car rolled over and a passenger was ejected from the vehicle.

“Upon police arrival, they noted a person laying in the middle of the road being attended by bystanders and also noticed an individual in the driver’s seat,” said Vadik.

The passenger survived the crash, but sustained multiple injuries, including to the head.

“Once all the evidence was obtained, a report was sent recommending charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm and dangerous driving causing bodily harm,” said Vadik.

The trial will take place in Vancouver. If found guilty, McConnell could face up to 10 years imprisonment.
