So you want Yellowbelly? It'll mean getting down to the Boot Pub this week.

Don't worry, Yellowbelly is not some tropical bout of botulism type of thing but it certainly is catching. Here's four facts that might help you make up your mind whether to make these world music maestros part of your Monday night menu.

1. Yellowbelly leaves an interesting taste in your mouth.

Like a spicy gumbo of pop, funk and African rhythms, thanks in part to lead singer Brandon Foreman's childhood in Africa. His love for Brit pop and American funk fuels the band's flavour even further.

2. Yellowbelly gets around.

They've have played their rhythmically charged music on stages with The Barenaked Ladies, 54-40, Papa Wembe and the funkadelic Bootsy Collins.

3. Yellowbelly works best when Naked.

That's the name of their latest CD which not only took the No. 1 spot on the independent charts but stayed in the top five for five months after. Naked was also nominated for a West Coast Music Award as Best Pop/Dance Release in 2002.

4. Yellowbelly comes and goes.

The boys took a bit of a break in '96 to work on some other projects. Foreman started up his own recording studio, started a family and moved to Victoria before forming the new band and putting out Naked . Now they play every now and then to keep the creative juices flowing.
