Freestyle club nets 16 medals at provincials

16 medals in four events

The Blackcomb Freestyle Ski Club headed to Silver Star this past weekend to compete in the B.C. Freestyle Championships.

It was a successful trip, to say the least, as BFSC members picked up a total of 16 medals in moguls, aerials, big air and dual moguls.

Zack Glanzberg brought home three medals in the junior men’s category; gold in aerials and dual moguls, silver in single moguls.

Dana Jensen also picked up two medals, gold in single moguls and silver in duals.

Cam Doyle was first in single moguls and second in dual moguls in the senior men’s category.

Jae Woo Choi was first in the 11 and under category for single moguls and second in dual moguls after deciding to compete in the 12-13 age group.

Simon Louwe, 13, earned first in single moguls and a second in duals.

Takanori Shibabuki won bronze in single moguls and was second in the big air in the senior men’s competition.

The club will continue to train through the spring, with several members taking part in the Stompede and Salomon Stompede events at the World Ski and Snowboard Festival.

Club members will also train this summer at the trampoline and water ramps at Base II, preparing for next season. Several members have their sights set on 2010.
