The Blackcomb Freestyle Ski Club kicked off its season in style last weekend at Apex, the first of two B.C. Series competitions on the calendar this season. The team claimed four medals there, while the Club’s Under 13 skiers were competing in the Next Snow Search Qualifier in Whistler.

Zack Glanzberg, 17, took the gold in the junior aerials and a bronze in the junior dual moguls. Jae Woo Choi, 11, took a silver in the youth boy’s moguls. Dana Jensen, 15, took bronze in the juvenile girl’s dual moguls.

He didn’t finish on the podium, but Arden Schiller, 17, came close with a fifth place finish in the big air contest with a switch 540 and mute grab, and a switch 900. The winner, Silver Star’s Justin Dorey, landed a switch 1080.

The Blackcomb skiers also had to contend with the Australian Development Team, which stopped in Canada on its way to Europe.

The BFSC is having a strong season, with membership up. They have also launched a new website at www.blackcombfreestyle.com to keep members and the community up to date.

The club is still offering a free training day to anyone, men and women of all ages, who want to see what the BFSC is all about. For more information, contact head coach Marc Mcdonell at blackcombfreestyle@gmail.com.
