Record numbers attend 7th annual Gay and Lesbian Ski Week Out On The Slopes Productions hosted record numbers of guests for Altitude ’99, the 7th annual Gay and Lesbian Ski Week in Whistler. With registration up 40 per cent, guests from the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand enjoyed over 30 events on and off the slopes during the week of Jan. 30 to Feb. 7th. The week-long event included entertainers such as CeCe Peniston, SunScreem and the Miami chiffon climbers, as well as various theme nights, parties and a fashion show. Three local charities also benefited from the week: Whistler Search & Rescue, Whistler Community Services and S.A.F.E. All gained exposure and revenue in conjunction with various events. Whistler Community Services received $5,000, Whistler S.A.F.E. received $1,200 and Whistler Search and Rescue received $2,800.
