GearJammer organizers expecting a crowd

There’s still four weeks to go before the sixth annual Squamish GearJammer, but organizers are already expecting a higher turnout for the race as word gets out about the event.

There’s still four weeks to go before the sixth annual Squamish GearJammer, but organizers are already expecting a higher turnout for the race as word gets out about the event.

“Given the groundwork done by the Gearheads, our organizing committee, and the success of the Test of Metal this year, we anticipate this year’s race to be bigger and better than any other GearJammer.”

This is also the first year that the GearJammer is part of a local race series, the Squamish Triple Crown, which includes results from the new Ore Crusher event in Brackendale and Test of Metal.

The GearJammer is 47 km, about 20 km less than the Test of Metal, but finish times are similar because of the amount of singletrack and the difficulty of the trails. Featured trails include Middle Power Smart, ReCycle, Pseudo-Tsuga and The Plunge.

The GearJammer is limited to 500 riders this year, age 14 and older. The $55 entry fee includes a $10 insurance fee.
