Get Bear Smart Society looking for participants

Focus group to discuss barriers to bear smart behaviour

The Get Bear Smart Society is looking for people to participate in two focus groups. The topic of discussion will revolve around bear smart practices.

The society is looking for participants who are practicing bear smart behaviour, but especially those who are not (for whatever reason). The goal is to determine what barriers are in place that hinder disposing of garbage in a bear-proof manner, and eliminating other attractants, like taking down your birdfeeder, or picking fruit from a tree, for example.

Focus Groups will be held on Aug. 15th at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Participants will be paid for their time, either in cash, or with a donation to a charity of their choice. The session will take approximately 1.5 hours. We will also supply refreshments and goodies.

Aside from earning $50 cash for your time, you can know that you were part of the bear smart solution. Call Sylvia at 604-905-4209 or e-mail at sdolson@bearsmart.com to sign up.
