The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) has released its lineup for GO Fest's free concert series.

The acts include Juno Award-winners The Philosopher Kings, Victoria-based indie band Carmanah, B.C. favourites Current Swell, funk-fusion act Coco Jafro and DJ duo The Funk Hunters performing in Village Square from May 18 to May 20.

"This incredible lineup of Canadian artists is brought to Whistler thanks to the Province of British Columbia's Resort Municipality Initiative contributions which invests in programs and projects that support and help grow tourism," says Whistler Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden in a release.

This year marks the fifth installment of the festival, which was first launched to help shift the culture around the May long weekend in Whistler from rowdy to family-friendly. It also includes various sport events, races and workshops over the weekend.

The free shows will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Refresh Market returns

Have you done any spring cleaning yet?

There's still time to clear out your closet to make room for new goodies ahead of the 13th installment of the two-day Refresh Market, taking place at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park in Squamish on April 27 and 28.

The market, held twice a year, is packed with artists, designers and crafters selling their goods. Amongst the 48 vendors will be Army of Rokosz jewelry, swimwear designers Fenntessa and UNION Swimwear as well as an array of ceramics, vintage clothes and artisan food.

"Refresh has become, in many ways, a place to shop and scout new products and talent," says co-founder Shannon Lorenz in a release. "It's been incredible to see the community grow and evolve over the past seven years. At the end of the day, it's the community that matters most."

The market runs from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 27 and from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 28. Tickets are $5 at the door or $3 in advance online. Kids under 12 get in for free. For more information or to purchase tickets visit refreshmarket.ca.

Learn from a theatre mentor

The Flag Stop Festival—which runs annually in August at The Point Artist-Run Centre—might seem like it's far away, but the mentorship program for those interested in participating is just around the corner.

Local acting coach and director Angie Nolan will lead the sessions every Thursday from May 10 to Aug. 9 from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. with help from some visiting professionals. They will culminate in a performance at the Flag Stop Festival on Aug. 10.

Auditions take place on May 3 at the Maury Young Arts Centre. For more visit thepointartists.com.
