Good weekend for Canadian Avalanche Association

Columbia Brewery awarded $12,000 to the Canadian Avalanche Association last week to support its Public Avalanche Bulletin.

Dave McAnerney of Columbia Brewery presented a cheque of $12,000 to Justin Trudeau, a long-standing supporter of the CAA and Director of the Canadian Avalanche Foundation, at the Columbia Brewery Avalanche Awareness Days event in Fernie Jan. 9.

In addition, Resorts of the Canadian Rockies – which owns and operates Fernie Alpine Resort and several other ski areas in the Rockies – and Kokanee have joined forces to raise money for CAA education programs through sales of a calendar.

Last weekend Resorts of the Canadian Rockies and Kokanee announced The Girls of the Canadian Rockies calendar featuring passionate, smart, successful, community-minded women: Divina Angelini, Moe Burns, Julia Delich, Jennifer Delich, Kristin Elliott, Carol Lobello, Cara Moeller, Maureen Mosteller and Jikke Stegeman.

"The Girls of the Canadian Rockies, staff of Resorts of the Canadian Rockies and Kokanee feel very connected to the mountain places in which we live and we want everyone to enjoy the mountains with their friends and family safely," says Matt Mosteller, senior director, business development for Resorts of the Canadian Rockies. "This is a way for us to give back to our communities by raising $10,000 in support of the Canadian Avalanche Association."

Photographer Pat Bates shot the calendar on location at Fernie Alpine Resort. It will be available towards the end of February to order online at It is expected that the calendars will raise $10,000 in funds to be directly donated to the CAA.
