Injuries to the Canadian Alpine Ski Team continued to mount over the holidays; Quebec's Anna Goodman was the latest to go down, with a knee injury sustained in a Jan. 3 slalom in Zagreb, Croatia.

Goodman, 23, returned home for further assessment but the suspicion is she tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee. The injury happened a few gates from the finish of the first run.

Other Canadian skiers already sidelined with injuries include 2009 World Downhill Champion John Kucera, Jean-Philippe Roy, Francois Bourque, Kelly Vanderbeek and Larisa Yurkiw. None of them are expected to return in time for next month's Olympics.

Meanwhile, Brigitte Acton of Mont Tremblant, Quebec was the only Canadian to qualify for a second run at Zagreb. Acton finished 19 th , 2.53 seconds behind winner Sandrine Aubert of France.

Acton said she drew inspiration from her injured teammate.

"That was definitely in the back of my head because she is definitely one of my closest friends and a strong teammate," Acton said. "I just tried to keep my mind on what I had to do and race my race. Overall I am continuing to be pretty consistent and I feel like my time will come soon."

For Aubert, the victory was her second in three World Cup slaloms this season. Austria's Kathrin Zettel was second, .43 seconds behind Aubert. Susanne Riesch of Germany was third a further .31 seconds back.

Other Canadians who started but didn't finish in the top 30 if the first run, and thus didn't qualify for a second run, were Marie-Michele Gagnon (46 th ) and Shona Rubens (DNF).

The World Cup circuit resumed Wednesday with a men's slalom in Zagreb. The men will be Adelboden, Switzerland for slalom and giant slalom races this weekend.

The women's circuit resumes with two downhills and a super G at Haus im Ennstal, Austria this weekend.
