The Whistler Gravity Series gets underway on June 18 with an Uphill/Downhill race followed by the first bikercross of the season. The Uphill/Downhill was intended for May 28, but was delayed due to the rain.

Rather than push back the season or drop an event from the schedule, organizer Paul Fournier decided to run both events on Tuesday evening.

"Some people are going to be tired, that's for sure," he said.

The Whistler Gravity Series includes the Uphill-Downhill, two bikercross races, three downhill races and a dirt jumping competition. The winners will be determined at the end of the season, Aug. 27, based on results in these seven events. Prizes range from cash to equipment donated by local businesses.

You can register for the series at Guest Relations before 4:30 p.m. Events start at 5:30 p.m.

Special rates are available to WORCA members, and all participants have to purchase a $13.50 membership with Cycling B.C. to cover their insurance.

Volunteers will receive bike park passes, food, and jerseys.
