Green buildings are gaining momentum in Whistler with local government leading the charge

The resort’s first LEED certified green building is the $1.5 million Spring Creek Fire Hall.

The hall has a silver LEED rating.

The $7 million Whistler Public Library will also be designed and built to LEED standards. Builders are set to break ground for the library in April. The municipality will aim for another silver rating.

And finally, the $580,000 Whistler Animals Galore shelter, which is now under construction, will have LEED elements to it. It will not get a LEED certification due to its tight budget.
