The Whistler Gymnastics Club is hosting its annual year-end show Sunday, May 27, with the central theme of “Tumble in Jungle”.

The show features solo routines by Whistler’s provincial gymnasts, performances by the club’s recreational gymnasts, and the coaches’ demonstration. Special guests this year include Jody Winstanley’s rhythmic gymnastics students, and pre-schoolers from the municipality’s program.

The show takes place from 2 to 4 p.m. at Whistler Secondary School, and the families and friends of all gymnasts are invited to come out and watch. Admission is by donation, and there will be fundraising activities like a 50-50 draw and airplane toss to raise money for Whistler Gymnastics’ new facility in the athletes’ village. The $2 million facility, which will be connected to the athletes’ centre, is expected to open in fall of 2008 with 8,000 square feet of space dedicated to gymnastics and trampoline.

The year-end show also provides parents with an opportunity to enroll their children in Whistler Gymnastics summer camps. The number of camps has been doubled this season to four, plus the club will be running a Zone 5 camp.

Registration will also be open for the fall gymnastics session. Due to the current limitations of the club’s facility at Myrtle Philip, classes do fill up early.

As well, Whistler Gymnastics will take over the preschool program from the municipality in the fall. Information will be available at the registration table.
