Gymnasts in the medals at Delta

Solid results all around

The Whistler Gymnastics Club headed to Delta last weekend for the Cash and Carry Cup, where they faced all the top clubs in the Lower Mainland.

The local team managed to win and place in a few events, although they were up against gymnasts that train five to 10 more hours per week.

In Provincial Level 3 Novice, Keeley Wentzel placed fourth all around out of 19 athletes, placing first on the vault and tying for fourth on the floor. She missed third all around by just 0.2 points.

Carly Mann was 15th all around despite her silver medal on the floor, while Jessie Budge was 18th - her best result coming on the vault.

Kat Kranjc competed in Provincial Level 3 Tyro, placing eighth all around. She placed fourth on the floor, just 0.4 points back of the podium, and fifth on the vault.

In Provincial Level 2 Novice, Ellie Krasny tied for 10th all around out of 20 athletes. She placed in the top 10 in all four events, including seventh on vault, eighth on floor, ninth on beam and 10th on bars.

Jamie Gormley was injured and didn't finish her day, but placed eighth on the beam.

In Provincial Level 2 Tyro, Hannah Peatfield placed seventh all around and earned a silver medal on the vault. Caleigh Lamont was 11th and earned a bronze for her bar routine.

In the older Provincial Level 2 Tyro group, Caitlin MacConnachie placed a solid sixth all around and finished in the top 10 of all the disciplines. Her best result was sixth on vault.

In Provincial Level 2 Argo 2001, Gabby Flynn placed 10th all around, just missing the podium in vault by 0.1 points. Gigi Kranjc was 11th with an eighth place result on vault.

Next up for Whistler Gymnastics is the annual Ogopogo Invitational in Kelowna from June 3 to 5.
