Gymnasts wrap up season in the medals

Whistler Gymnastics Club wrapped up another successful season this past weekend with a strong showing at the Ogopogo Invitational, hosted by the Okanagan Gymnastics Club in Kelowna.

On Friday Maxine Shuster and Ali Marriott competed Level 1 Argo 10 and Under, placing fifth and 14 th all around. Shuster earned a bronze on the vault, and Mariott’s best result was an eighth place finish on the bars.

In the Level 1 Tyro category Cate Sproule, Averi Willis and Jenya Nordin were seventh, eighth and ninth respectively. Sproule placed fifth on the bars, Willis was fourth on vault and Nordin was sixth on the balance beam.

In Level 1 Novice Open, Rachel Warner was fourth all around, after earning gold on the balance beam and a silver on the floor.

In Level 2 Tyro, Maye Akama was eighth all around, with fifth place results on beam and floor. Alexandra Shuker was 21st in her first Level 2 competition, including an eighth place finish on vault, and Hannah Raffler was 27 th with a fourth on vault.

In Level 2 Novice, Tyece Fairweather and Lenka Prochazka were 15 th and 16 th respectively, with Prochazka placing seventh on the bars. Jasmin Budge was 26 th , Desirae Smith 28 th and Meg Halliwell 29 th .

Nicola Halliwell, the Provincial Level 2 Open champion, had another strong performance to place second all around.
