Wolf Pack go on without Hallenbeck

While goalie Graham Hallenbeck has been the Squamish Wolf Pack's top player, coach Matt Samson elected to trade his star player at the league deadline to the second place Grandview Steelers.
Hallenbeck has made his presence felt, picking up two wins with the Steelers including a 3-0 shutout over the league-leading Richmond Sockeyes, as well as a 5-2 win over the Wolf Pack this past Sunday.
It was only one of many moves made by Wolf Pack coach Matt Samson. With his team all but eliminated from the playoffs, nine points back of the Delta Ice Hawks with 10 tough games remaining, the Squamish coach looked to bolster his clubs chances for next year. It also gives Hallenbeck a chance at a championship this season, and improves his chances of getting a scholarship to play hockey after his eligibility runs out at the end of the season.
On Jan. 8, Squamish traded Roberto Yslas to the Mission Icebreakers in exchange for the rights to goalie Tyler Bachmeier. On the same day Hallenbeck was traded to Grandview for "future considerations."
On Jan. 9, the Wolf Pack traded Nils Hanfstingl to the Abbotsford Pilots Hockey Club, and Ross Pattison and Nick Johnston to the Peninsula Panthers of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League in exchange for "future considerations" from those teams.
On Jan. 10, the Wolf Pack transferred the playing rights of Cole Nelson, who is from Squamish, to the Port Moody Black Panthers in exchange for "future considerations."
The Wolf Pack are winless since their last four games, and in the last three games since the trade deadline.
