Highway of Words takes on literacy awareness

Capilano College, in partnership with the Squamish and Pemberton public libraries, is hosting a literacy awareness event during the week of Oct. 15-21.

Titled Highway of Words, this program seeks to raise public awareness surrounding the issues of family and adult literacy throughout the Squamish-D’Arcy region.

Involving agencies, organizations and community groups along the Squamish-D’Arcy corridor, the objective for Highway of Words is to increase literacy awareness by: encouraging groups to work collectively, promoting networking, utilizing the expertise in each centre, and raising awareness of existing literacy programs within each community.

Organizations and community members who wish to participate in literary awareness within this region may do so by incorporating a literacy focus to their existing program or hosting a special event.
