Just after midnight on Oct. 3 the RCMP received a call regarding an assault that took place outside Meadow Park. According to the reports, a player from one team was assaulted by a player from the other team using a hockey stick. The victim was hit once in the chest and shoulder area, and the girls he was with were almost hit as well. After the victim got into his car, the male banged his window several times with the hockey stick "aggressively and continuously" according to the RCMP.
The police attended and located the suspect, a 37-year-old from Whistler, sitting in his car. The male acknowledged that the police were looking for him, and he was arrested and then released with conditions — including a promise not to approach or contact the victim. Crown will decide whether to pursue assault charges.
Suspect arrested after village attack
A Lower Mainland man was taken by ambulance to Vancouver with a concussion just after 2 a.m. Oct. 4 after another man outside a nightclub punched him.
The RCMP attended as the male victim was being revived. He had been unconscious and was bleeding after the attack.
Bystanders provided the police with a description that matched an individual that was known to the police. They also knew that the male often took cabs, so they stopped every cab leaving the village until they found one with the suspect in the back.
The suspect, a 36-year-old from Mt. Currie, was held overnight until sober and will make his first court appearance on Nov. 16. Police are recommending the charge of assault causing bodily harm, and are still investigating.
The victim was first taken to the Whistler Health Care Centre, but because of the seriousness of the head injury was immediately sent to a hospital in Vancouver for further treatment. His status is unknown.
Intoxicated man breaks into home
Just after 4 a.m. on Oct. 3 the RCMP received a report of a break-and-enter at a residence in Alpine Meadows from a security guard investigating an alarm. The RCMP arrived to find the front door had been kicked in. There was a wallet in the entryway area, and in the first bedroom they found an individual who the wallet belonged to sleeping in one of the beds.
The RCMP arrested the man, who resisted being handcuffed for about two minutes. The RCMP performed an arm bar and wristlock to get the intoxicated man — a 21-year-old from Squamish who is originally from PEI — to comply.
The male was arrested and police are recommending charges of unlawfully being in a home and mischief.
