A month after Windsor Plywood opened its doors, Home Hardware has confirmed it will build a 6,000 square foot retail outlet in Function Junction. Regional manager Geoff Martin said construction of the new facility will begin this summer on the site formerly used by Garibaldi Building Supply for a lumber yard. The Whistler Home Hardware store is scheduled to open early in the new year. "We're very excited about the opportunities in Whistler," Martin said. "We think the market in Whistler is ready for a first class hardware store." Home Hardware stores are dealer owned. The property, at 1005 Alpha Lake Road next to the BC Rail tracks, will have to be rezoned from its current Industrial Service One zone. Home Hardware's decision to move into Function Junction adds another major franchise chain to the industrial park’s growing list of retailers.
