Heli skiing company takes on more space Whistler Heli skiing has expanded it’s terrain to encompass exclusive access to over one and a half million hectares of ski terrain. The company, which is in it’s 17th year of operations recently bought out Tyax Heli-skiing and Mountain Heli-sports making it the only Whistler-based heli-ski operator. "There won’t be any other heli-ski company with proper land tenure in Whistler," says Whistler Heli-skiing’s John Hetherington. "We’ll be increasing the number of helicopters up to four 2-12s and we will have available a couple of A-Stars." "Now we’ll be more like the rest of B.C. It was a bit of an anomaly to have three companies in one town. Especially with two of them flying in the same terrain, (both Tyax and Whistler Heli-skiing). We’ll be more like normal now." Guides and pilots from the other two companies will be interviewed again for jobs at Whistler Heli-skiing. "It all depends on their plans and how it will work with us." Hetherington stresses that the company has prided itself over the years on customer service and attention to detail and they intend to carry on with this. "We are all very excited about the future and especially looking forward to the upcoming season."
