human resources

Eighteen months after an organizational review recommended the municipality create a new human resources officer position, the position has been filled. Kathy Wallace was appointed Manager of Human Resources for the municipality this week. Wallace has been in the field of human resource management for more than 15 years, including eight years with Delta Hotels and Resorts. Initially director of human resources for one Delta hotel, she moved up to the position of regional director for a number of hotels. Prior to joining Delta Wallace was director of personnel with the New York Foundling Hospital. She also held human resources and personnel positions with several Winnipeg firms. Her most recent position was operations manager for Crown Resort Accommodation in Whistler. The human resource manager position was a recommendation of Mel Shelley of Urban Systems. Shelley conducted his review of municipal operations between January and March of 1996. The review was prompted by discontent among municipal staff. Administrator Peter Kent left the municipality following the review.
